Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu strongly criticized the previous YSRCP government, alleging a systematic attempt to undermine the sanctity and reputation of the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD). Speaking during a short discussion in the Assembly on the alleged adulterated ghee issue used in Tirumala laddu preparation, he claimed that irregularities began during earlier administrations and continued during YSRCP’s five-year rule. Naidu alleged that artificial or substandard ghee containing animal fat was used, citing details mentioned in a SIT supplementary chargesheet, and described it as part of a larger conspiracy aimed at damaging the spiritual significance of Lord Venkateswara’s temple. He also accused the previous regime of politicizing temple administration and hurting Hindu sentiments through various decisions and controversies.
The Chief Minister further alleged that several incidents during the YSRCP tenure, including attacks on temples, idol desecrations, and administrative decisions within TTD, reflected negligence toward Hindu religious institutions. He stated that the current coalition government has initiated reforms in Tirumala by ensuring FSSAI-certified ingredients for prasadam preparation, improving food quality through technology, expanding facilities for devotees, and regulating special darshans to benefit common pilgrims. Naidu emphasized his personal devotion to Lord Venkateswara and credited divine blessings for the coalition’s electoral victory, urging political leaders to avoid dragging religious institutions into controversies.
