AP Liquor Transport Tender Case: Former Minister Karumuri Nageswara Rao Taken Into SIT Custody

Former Andhra Pradesh minister and YSRCP leader Karumuri Nageswara Rao has been taken into custody by the state Special Investigation Team (SIT) in the case concerning alleged irregularities in liquor transportation tenders during the previous YSRCP government. The Enforcement Directorate had earlier arrested Karumuri in connection with the case and he was lodged in Chanchalguda Jail. The allegations under investigation relate to the award and execution of APSBCL liquor transportation contracts.

The SIT subsequently brought Karumuri from Chanchalguda Jail to Vijayawada on a production warrant and produced him before the ACB court. According to reports published on September 17, the court remanded him until September 25. The case involves allegations of manipulation of the liquor transportation tender process and financial irregularities, which the investigating agencies are examining. Karumuri has previously challenged the allegations against him before the courts.
