Specially designed tactile pathways on the platforms of Kazipet Railway Junction are helping passengers navigate the station more easily and safely. These pathways are particularly useful for visually impaired people, elderly passengers with vision difficulties and those visiting the station for the first time. The facility has been introduced as part of the station redevelopment works under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme. The pathways feature specially designed tiles that help passengers identify directions through touch, either with their feet or with the help of a walking stick.
The pathways consist of three distinct sections, each serving a specific purpose. The first section features long, parallel yellow guiding tiles that help passengers follow a route. Square-shaped tiles with raised, rounded dots indicate directions towards facilities such as drinking water points, waiting rooms, toilets, stairs, lifts, escalators and food stalls. The middle pathway runs along the platform and features raised circular patterns, guiding passengers to a designated area while waiting for trains. The final section, marked in orange, is located close to the platform edge. Its raised, square-patterned tiles alert passengers to stay away from the edge, especially when trains are arriving or departing. These specially designed surfaces also help improve grip and reduce the risk of slipping.
