The All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) has created history by registering its first-ever victory in the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), Asia’s richest municipal body. The win marks a significant milestone for the party as it opens its account in Mumbai’s civic politics for the first time.
In the Maharashtra municipal elections, AIMIM strengthened its urban footprint by winning a total of 89 seats across 13 municipal corporations statewide. The party emerged as a key political force in cities such as Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar and Malegaon, where it played a decisive kingmaker role. By surpassing the Sharad Pawar-led NCP in several pockets, AIMIM underlined its expanding political influence in Maharashtra.
