Disturbing revelations have surfaced about Vemuri Kaveri Travels, the private bus company involved in the horrific Kurnool bus fire that claimed 19 lives.
Investigations have revealed that the bus was authorized only for seating service, but was illegally converted into a sleeper coach, violating major transport safety regulations.
Officials further discovered that the vehicle had 16 pending challans. As per transport rules, if a vehicle accumulates more than 10 challans, the owner must face a charge sheet, and the vehicle should be seized. The owner can reclaim it only after appearing before a court.
Shockingly, despite these multiple violations, the bus continued to operate on public roads. The result was a devastating fire accident that killed 19 innocent passengers and injured several others.
This tragedy has sparked public outrage and raised serious questions about the failure of transport authorities to enforce the law. The government has now ordered a high-level inquiry to determine how such illegal operations were allowed to continue unchecked.
