A major controversy has erupted around the AI chatbot Grok over the generation and circulation of obscene content. Reports indicate that miscreants have been misusing the platform by uploading photos of private individuals and prompting the chatbot to generate explicit images. The objectionable outputs allegedly produced by Grok are being widely circulated on social media and uploaded to pornographic websites, raising serious concerns about the safety and dignity of women and children. Several instances reportedly involve the misuse of images of innocent women and minors, triggering widespread outrage.

Reacting strongly to the issue, Rajya Sabha MP Priyanka Chaturvedi lodged a formal complaint with the Central Government. Following this, the Centre issued crucial directives to X (formerly Twitter), instructing the immediate removal of all obscene and objectionable content generated through Grok. The government has also ordered the platform to submit an Action Taken Report within 72 hours, detailing the measures implemented to curb the spread of such content and prevent further misuse of AI tools.
