Health Minister Damodar Raja Narasimha participated in the Food Safety Awareness Walkathon held at Jalavihar, Hyderabad, and formally flagged off the event. Around one thousand students and youth took part in the walk, which started from Jalavihar and concluded at the HMDA Grounds near IMAX. Senior officials including Health Principal Secretary Christina Z. Chongthu, Hyderabad Police Commissioner Sajjanar, Food Safety Commissioner Sangeetha Satyamurthy, and Hyderabad Collector Harichandana also joined the minister in the walk.

Addressing the concluding event at HMDA Grounds, the minister highlighted that changing lifestyles, urbanization, and increased dependence on processed and outside food have significantly increased health risks. He stated that Telangana has over 1.41 lakh food business operators, with nearly 80 percent concentrated in urban areas. He warned about rising food adulteration practices affecting public health and announced stricter enforcement measures, including intensified inspections, mobile testing units, new regional food labs, and stronger legal action. The government, he said, is committed to ensuring safe and quality food under the “Eat Right – Stay Healthy” mission.
