The Supreme Court has expressed serious concern over the increasing presence of cattle on national highways, which is leading to accidents. These incidents not only put drivers at risk but also result in the deaths of stray animals. The apex court highlighted the urgent need to address this issue to ensure road safety for both humans and animals.
To tackle the problem, the Supreme Court has issued notices to the central and state governments, as well as union territories, asking for a detailed response within four weeks regarding measures taken to prevent stray animals from entering national highways. Authorities have been urged to implement effective strategies to protect both commuters and animals on these roads.
