The Sri Lankan government has increased LPG gas prices, delivering another big shock to citizens amid rising global gas rates. The new prices came into effect from midnight. In Colombo, a 12.5 kg cylinder is now priced at LKR 4,765, up by LKR 775. A 5 kg cylinder costs LKR 1,910 after a rise of LKR 308, and a 2.3 kg cylinder is now LKR 840, up by LKR 140.
This price hike reflects the impact of global market trends on local consumers. With LPG being an essential commodity, the increase is expected to affect household budgets across the country. Citizens are adjusting to the new rates while the government monitors the situation closely.
