Egypt, Pakistan, and Turkey are mediating to ease the crisis in West Asia. A temporary 45 day ceasefire proposal has been prepared to halt attacks by US-Israel forces on Iran. This plan is considered crucial to calm tensions over the reopening of the Hormuz Strait.
So far, neither Iran nor the US has responded to the proposal. Officials stated that Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has delivered the proposal to West Asia envoy Steve Vitkoff. However, it remains unclear whether Iran and the US will agree to the temporary ceasefire. Iran has stated it will not back down from military action and warned that it could target bridges and power stations if there is any violation at Hormuz.
