HMDA has taken a key decision to reduce accidents on the PV Narasimha Rao Expressway, which is recognized as a key road in the city. It has decided to undertake structural changes at four ramps along the main road and has invited tenders through the e-procurement process. Problems like bumpy conditions, BT blowing, and small potholes on this expressway, which was built about 17 years ago, are causing difficulties for motorists. In the wake of accidents due to high speed of vehicles, it is planning to install AI-based cameras and take steps to control speed.
In addition, footpath repairs will be carried out at the Sardar Papanna statue on Tank Bund, a new lift will be installed in the HMDA Hermitage Complex, and old lifts will be repaired. Tenders have also been invited for various works such as the development of Bathukamma Kunta at Hussain Sagar, the construction of a new building in place of the old Indian Red Cross Society building, and the appointment of consultancies for the construction of an interchange connecting Radial Road-2 from Budvel Layout.
