A.G. Perarivalan, who was convicted in the assassination case of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi, has now become an advocate in Tamil Nadu. He has recently enrolled as a lawyer with the Tamil Nadu Puducherry Bar Association. After spending 31 years in prison, he was released in 2022 following a Supreme Court order.
After his release, Perarivalan completed his legal education at Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Law College in Bengaluru. He obtained his degree and successfully passed the All India Bar Examination in 2025. He is expected to begin his legal practice at the Madras High Court and stated that he aims to become a voice for undertrial and underprivileged prisoners who lack proper legal support.
