A recent international study has warned that artificial intelligence is set to bring major transformations in the global job market. The report states that in nearly one out of every three jobs, more than 50 percent of tasks could be enhanced or influenced by generative AI. It also highlights that these changes will significantly impact emerging economies, including India.
The study on employment trends in the US state of Minnesota was conducted in collaboration with the University of St. Thomas, the North Star Policy Action organization, and India’s Woxsen University AI Research Centre. The research team also developed the GenAI Job Intelligence Dashboard, a tool designed to help policymakers and industries understand AI-driven job shifts and evolving skill requirements.
Experts involved in the study emphasize that AI should be seen as a tool for job transformation rather than job loss. They stress that organizations must adapt to changing workflows and invest in reskilling their workforce. The report further calls for a balanced approach between innovation and employee welfare, urging institutions and governments to promote responsible use of AI.
