Union Minister Bandi Sanjay said farmers and soldiers are the two pillars of the nation, describing Prime Minister Narendra Modi's commitment to their welfare. Speaking at the PM-KISAN Samman Nidhi fund release programme held at the agricultural research centre in Rajendranagar, Hyderabad, he said the Prime Minister's vision is to make farmers prosperous. He stated that the agricultural budget had increased fivefold compared with 2014. According to him, ₹4.47 lakh crore had been transferred to farmers through 23 instalments of PM-KISAN, while another ₹18,690 crore was being released to 9.34 crore farmers. More than 30 lakh farmers in Telangana are benefiting from the scheme. He also said that 92% of farmers use PM-KISAN assistance for agricultural needs and that 85% had experienced an increase in income.
Bandi Sanjay further stated that the Centre had spent ₹12 lakh crore on fertiliser subsidies, helping farmers save around ₹18,000 per acre. He said nearly 40 lakh Kisan Credit Cards had been issued in Telangana, enabling loans worth ₹50,000 crore, while 1.10 crore Soil Health Cards had also been distributed. Highlighting India's progress in rice production and exports, he credited the efforts of Prime Minister Modi and agricultural scientists. He also expressed concern over El Niño-related agricultural losses, stating that around 11 lakh acres in Telangana could not be cultivated and crop losses this season were estimated at nearly ₹20,000 crore. He urged scientists to develop improved crop varieties and called for stronger coordination among farmers, researchers and the government to achieve the Viksit Bharat 2047 vision. He said a farmer's smile is the true recognition of a scientist's success.
