Hyderabad City Police, led by Commissioner VC Sajjanar, have announced strict measures to ensure a “Zero Drugs” policy during New Year celebrations. Special teams have been deployed in pubs, hotels, restaurants, and other event venues to monitor drug consumption and prevent violations. Key areas including Banjara Hills, Necklace Road, Tank Bund, and KBR Park will have intensive checkpoints and barricades to maintain law and order. Officers have been instructed to keep a close watch on individuals previously involved in drug cases and newcomers in the city.
Commissioner Sajjanar also directed that all pubs, hotels, and restaurants must close by 1 AM during the celebrations. Any violations will attract strict action, including license cancellations. Private parties in service apartments and hostels will also be monitored to ensure celebrations remain safe and peaceful. The police emphasized coordinated efforts among all departments to uphold the city police’s reputation while allowing the public to enjoy festivities without disruption.
