

Indian boxing legend Mary Kom is set to step back into the ring, marking a new chapter in her illustrious career. The Manipuri icon, who had earlier bid farewell to amateur boxing, has now expressed her intent to compete in professional boxing. Speaking during the Fit India 67th Cycle Rally on Sunday, Mary Kom confirmed that age restrictions have limited her opportunities in amateur boxing, prompting her to explore professional avenues. The Olympic bronze medalist is determined to prove that age is no barrier to performance and aims to continue showcasing her fitness and fighting spirit.
Widely regarded as a legend in women’s boxing, Mary Kom is preparing for a fresh innings after a brief hiatus from the sport. A six-time World Champion (2002, 2005, 2006, 2008, 2010, 2018), she has left an indelible mark with her powerful performances. She scripted history by winning a bronze medal at the 2012 London Olympics and has also secured gold and bronze medals at the Asian Games. Now at 43, Mary Kom is ready to embrace a new challenge and inspire the world once again with her resilience and determination.
