Winter conditions have intensified across North India, prompting the India Meteorological Department (IMD) to issue a red alert on Thursday for dense to very dense fog in Delhi, Haryana, Punjab, and Chandigarh. The weather agency warned that visibility could drop sharply, posing risks to normal movement.
According to IMD, the foggy conditions are likely to disrupt road travel, railway services, and flight operations, particularly during early morning and late-night hours. Commuters have been advised to remain cautious and plan their travel accordingly.
In addition, isolated parts of Himachal Pradesh are expected to experience cold wave conditions, while ground frost is likely to persist in some areas of Uttarakhand. These developments point to severe winter conditions prevailing across several northern states.
Overall, the weather department has urged people to stay alert, follow advisories, and take necessary precautions as harsh winter weather continues to affect the region.
