

An earthquake struck Jammu and Kashmir on Monday morning, measuring 4.8 on the Richter scale. According to officials, the epicenter was located near Soibugh in Budgam district, approximately 10 to 20 kilometers southwest of Srinagar, at around 5:35 a.m. on February 2.
The tremors were felt across several areas, including Srinagar, Charar-e-Sharief, Pulwama, Shopian, and Baramulla. The sudden shaking caused panic among residents, prompting many to rush out of their homes. Fearing aftershocks, people remained on the streets for some time. Officials confirmed that no loss of life or property has been reported so far. As Kashmir falls in a seismically active zone, authorities have advised residents to remain vigilant and strictly follow safety guidelines.
