A cyclonic circulation over the southwest Bay of Bengal has intensified and is gradually moving toward the northern Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and south Andhra Pradesh coasts at a slow pace of 3 kmph since Tuesday evening. According to the Amaravati Meteorological Centre, the system is currently located about 40 km southeast of Chennai, 120 km northeast of Puducherry, and nearly 190 km southeast of Nellore.
Meteorologists expect the system’s influence to continue for the next 12 hours before weakening into a low-pressure area over the subsequent 12 hours. At present, the cyclonic center is positioned just 25 km away from the Tamil Nadu–Puducherry coastline.
Under its influence, moderate to heavy rainfall is likely over Nellore and Tirupati districts on Wednesday. Light to moderate rain is expected across Krishna, NTR, Guntur, Bapatla, Eluru, Prakasam, and several Rayalaseema districts.
