Telangana Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy stated that the government is committed to paddy procurement with complete sincerity and accused the opposition of spreading false propaganda. He highlighted that the Centre itself has acknowledged Telangana as the number one state in paddy procurement. The state government has reportedly spent ₹16,000 crore towards Minimum Support Price (MSP) and assured that every grain will be purchased at MSP. He added that while 75 lakh metric tonnes of paddy production is expected during the Yasangi season, the Centre has agreed to procure only 52 lakh metric tonnes, whereas the state has already procured around 60 lakh metric tonnes, including wet paddy.
Meanwhile, Minister Ponnam Prabhakar said the government will not tolerate any hurdles created by the Centre regarding urea supply and will fight for farmers’ rights. He emphasized that it is the government’s responsibility to procure paddy and assured continued support to farmers. Ponnam also stated that Congress MPs would stage protests if required and accused BJP leaders of diverting public attention from rising fuel prices by organizing political campaigns.
