Apple’s much-anticipated AI-powered smart glasses may take longer to reach consumers than previously expected. According to reports, the technology giant is now targeting a launch in late 2027 after facing development challenges that have slowed progress on the project. Earlier reports had suggested that Apple could unveil the device by the end of 2026 and begin shipping it in early 2027.
The smart glasses are considered a key part of Apple’s future product strategy and are expected to feature advanced artificial intelligence capabilities, including integration with an upgraded Siri and visual intelligence features. Reports indicate that Apple is testing multiple frame designs and colour options to appeal to a broader audience. While the glasses are not expected to support full augmented reality (AR) functionality, Apple is also believed to be working on a more advanced AR glasses project. The delay comes as competition intensifies, with companies such as Meta and Google accelerating their presence in the rapidly growing smart glasses market.
