Following the call from the Telangana state government to join the mainstream, Maoists, along with their weapons, have surrendered. The public has gained confidence in senior police officials who assured that the safety of the surrendering individuals would be fully maintained, and that they would be provided with financial and other necessary support. The state strongly believes that all issues can be resolved through peaceful means, echoing Mahatma Gandhi’s principle that dialogue, rather than violence, is the path to solutions. In this context, the Chief Minister has extended a call for other Maoists, including those in hiding like Ganapati, to come forward and surrender.
The government takes full responsibility for addressing the issues of the people. During meetings with surrendered leaders such as Dev G, Damodar, and other central committee members, several proposals were put forward, which were subsequently communicated to the central government, including Union Home Minister Amit Shah. As part of this process, 130 Maoists surrendered today, handing over 124 firearms. The surrender demonstrates a strong belief in resolving issues through ballots, not bullets, and the authorities commended all those who chose this peaceful path.
Since January 2024, a total of 721 Maoists have surrendered in Telangana. The state government has undertaken the responsibility to provide surrendered individuals with quality healthcare, financial support, and housing. Recognizing that violence does not resolve conflicts, the government emphasizes that all issues must be addressed through democratic means. The call has also been extended to other central committee members, including those in hiding like Ganapati, to surrender. The government remains supportive and has announced the potential formation of a special committee to review cases that can be resolved under the law.
