Talks between TGSRTC employee unions and authorities have failed. Following this, the TGSRTC Joint Action Committee (JAC) has decided to proceed with a strike from midnight. The committee’s proposal seeking four weeks’ time to resolve the issues was not accepted by the JAC. The union alleged that the process is being delayed under the pretext of committees. RTC JAC Chairman Eiduru Venkanna stated that they are left with no option but to go ahead with the strike.
He further said that their issues are not new and have been pending for a long time. RTC JAC Vice Chairman Thomas Reddy added that the demands being raised are part of the promises made in the government’s election manifesto. He also stated that the lack of response from the government regarding the resolution of these issues has forced them to launch the protest.
