The Andhra Pradesh government has issued orders dismissing employees union leader Kakarl Venkatarami Reddy from service. He was working as an Assistant Secretary in the Secretariat. Venkatarami Reddy previously served as the president of the Secretariat Employees’ Association and the AP Government Employees Federation. Over the past 22 months, he has been raising concerns regarding employees’ issues and questioning the government.
The action has drawn criticism, with allegations that it was taken due to his continued questioning of the government over unfulfilled promises to employees. He was earlier placed under suspension, and now has been permanently dismissed from service. The timing of the order, coinciding with the birthday of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, has sparked political debate.
