Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and Telugu Desam Party (TDP) president N. Chandrababu Naidu has warned that party members who contest local body elections as rebels will face suspension. During a teleconference with senior party leaders, he reviewed election campaigning and the selection of candidates for Mandal Parishad Territorial Constituency (MPTC) and Zilla Parishad Territorial Constituency (ZPTC) seats. He directed leaders to persuade rebel candidates to withdraw their nominations and ensure that no rebels contest in constituencies where the Jana Sena Party and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) have fielded official candidates.
Naidu urged alliance leaders to coordinate closely and seek public support in the local body elections as well. He asked them to explain to voters how the promises made during the general elections were being fulfilled and to highlight welfare and development initiatives under the slogan, “We promised, we are delivering.” He also stressed the importance of respecting alliance partners and ensuring smooth seat-sharing arrangements at the grassroots level. Aspirants who do not receive party tickets may be considered for nominated posts, he said, advising leaders to select candidates with a commitment to public service.
