Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s foreign visits have once again become a political talking point after the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) shared a video on X, claiming that he was travelling to Vietnam. The post surfaced at a time when opposition parties were protesting and demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar over alleged irregularities in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process. In its post, the BJP used a sarcastic caption suggesting that Rahul had become tired of spreading what it described as false claims and was heading to Vietnam for a few days. BJP spokesperson RP Singh also criticised Rahul’s travel schedule, alleging that he had taken an extended break after the Bihar campaign and suggesting that he might be travelling abroad again.
Other BJP leaders, including Shazia, also criticised Rahul’s alleged travel plans, questioning his work schedule and accusing him of raising what they called misleading claims about “vote theft.” The Congress rejected the criticism, arguing that the BJP was unnecessarily turning the Leader of the Opposition’s foreign visits into a controversy. The party said Rahul’s overseas engagements can include discussions with students at Yale University, meetings with intellectuals in London and media interviews. The exchange has triggered another political debate over Rahul Gandhi’s foreign travel, with the BJP questioning the timing of his visits and the Congress defending his right to undertake international engagements. The claims about the latest trip should be independently verified.
