YSRCP Spreading False Claims on Municipal Election Nominations: TDP

The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) has accused the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) of spreading misleading information about the Supreme Court’s directions concerning nominations for municipal elections in Andhra Pradesh. The TDP alleged that the YSRCP was wrongly claiming that the nomination deadline had been extended in 19 locations. It clarified that the court had directed the authorities to reconsider complaints from areas where candidates allegedly faced obstacles while filing their nominations.

According to the TDP, the Supreme Court left the decision on whether to accept nominations afresh in the affected locations to the State Election Commission (SEC). The party also said the court had not raised objections to the conduct of the municipal elections themselves. The TDP maintained that the court’s directions should not be interpreted as a blanket extension of the nomination deadline.
