DRI Officials Seize Gold and Foreign Currency on Vijayawada Outskirts

Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) officials have seized gold and foreign currency worth approximately ₹5.84 crore on the outskirts of Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh. Preliminary information indicates that the gold was allegedly being smuggled from Bangladesh to Hyderabad via Kolkata.

During a vehicle inspection, officials stopped a Scorpio SUV and searched it. They reportedly discovered gold, US dollars worth $60,000, and €21,500 concealed in a secret compartment inside the vehicle. Further investigation is underway to establish the details of the seized items and the alleged smuggling operation.
