The Central Bureau of Investigation has issued fresh summons to actor and TVK chief Vijay in connection with the Karur stampede case, directing him to appear for questioning on March 10. The tragic incident occurred on September 27 last year during Vijay’s political rally in Karur, where a stampede led to the deaths of 41 people. Following directions from the Supreme Court of India, the CBI is currently investigating the case.
As part of the investigation, Vijay has already appeared before the agency several times at its Delhi office. Officials stated that the fresh notice was issued to seek further clarification regarding the evidence collected so far. The probe is focusing on crowd management arrangements during the rally, permissions granted for the event, and the arguments presented by the TVK party and the Tamil Nadu government.
