The Artemis mission astronauts received congratulations from former US President Donald Trump, who praised the team’s successful journey and landing. In a post on Truth Social, Trump described the mission as “incredible” and said he was extremely proud as an American. He also mentioned that he would soon meet the Artemis crew at the White House and expressed hope for more such missions in the future, hinting that the next big step would be towards Mars.
The astronauts who participated in the mission include Reid Wiseman, Victor Glover, Christina Koch, and Jeremy Hansen. The Orion capsule re-entered Earth’s atmosphere at a speed of around 25,000 km/h and gradually slowed down before safely landing off the California coast with the help of parachutes. NASA Associate Administrator Amit Kshatriya stated that the Artemis mission exceeded expectations and could serve as a foundation for future missions, possibly even establishing a base on the Moon.
