In some films, not just the hero but supporting characters also receive immense recognition. The same happened with ‘Dhurandhar’, where along with Ranveer Singh, every character gained strong appreciation. However, it was the villain role of Rehman Dakaith, played by Akshaye Khanna, that stood out the most. His expressions, mannerisms, and dance moves went viral on social media. Interestingly, casting director Mukesh Chhabra revealed in an interview that several actors had initially rejected this powerful role. According to him, three actors—including one prominent South Indian star and two Bollywood actors—turned down the offer, citing that the film had too many actors and was primarily centered around Ranveer Singh.
He further mentioned that while he cannot disclose the names, those who rejected the role might regret their decision now. Initially, actors like Arjun Rampal, Sanjay Dutt, and even Akshaye Khanna hesitated before coming on board, while R. Madhavan was the only one who agreed immediately. Directed by Aditya Dhar, ‘Dhurandhar’ turned out to be a massive blockbuster, collecting over ₹1400 crore worldwide. Its sequel, ‘Dhurandhar: The Revenge’, has already crossed ₹1500 crore and continues its successful run in theatres.
