The state government has imposed a temporary ban on the sale of paraquat herbicide and issued official orders to this effect. The decision was taken in view of growing concerns over the use of paraquat and its potential impact.
It may be recalled that the state government had earlier passed a resolution in the Assembly, urging the central government to impose a ban on paraquat. As per the latest decision, the sale, storage and usage of paraquat in the state will be completely prohibited for a period of 60 days.
Minister Tummala stated that strict action will be taken against those who violate the regulations. He added that these measures have been implemented with a focus on safeguarding public health and safety.
