Goods and Services Tax (GST) collections in the country have recorded a significant increase. In March, collections rose by 8.8% to reach approximately ₹2 lakh crore. Government data indicates that this growth was driven by higher domestic sales and increased imports. In comparison, GST collections in March of the previous year stood at ₹1.83 lakh crore.
Revenue from domestic transactions grew by 5.8% to ₹1.46 lakh crore, while collections from imports saw a sharper rise of 17.8%, reaching ₹53,861 crore. These two factors together played a key role in boosting overall GST revenues.
