The Amaravati Legitimacy Bill was introduced in the Lok Sabha by Nityanand Rai, Minister of State for Home Affairs. The House has permitted a two hour discussion on the bill, which aims to grant legal backing to Amaravati as the capital. The Congress party has extended its support to the bill during the proceedings.
Speaking on the issue, Pemmasani Chandrasekhar criticized the previous approach of decentralization, stating that it created divisions among regions and delayed Amaravati’s development. He said valuable time was wasted without completing the capital and added that the people of Andhra Pradesh are thankful to Narendra Modi. He also recalled that the state was formed due to the sacrifice of Potti Sriramulu.
