A discussion has erupted on social media after residents of the Lyari region in Pakistan put forward intriguing demands concerning the box office earnings of the film ‘Dhurandhar: The Revenge.’ Given that the movie—starring Ranveer Singh—has grossed over ₹1,000 crore worldwide, locals are now requesting a share of the proceeds to aid in the development of their region.
In videos currently going viral on social media, residents of Lyari can be seen addressing the film's director, Aditya Dhar. Arguing that the movie achieved its success by showcasing their locality, some have demanded a contribution of at least ₹500 crore. Others have gone even further, suggesting that a share amounting to 70–80% of the film's total revenue should be allocated to them.
These demands have elicited a mixed response on social media. While some support the call for local development funds, others criticize the demand as being unrealistic. Despite the ongoing controversy, ‘Dhurandhar: The Revenge’ continues its successful run at the box office.
