Apple Inc. has announced a major leadership transition as part of its strategic shift toward hardware and artificial intelligence. After serving as CEO for nearly 15 years, Tim Cook will step down from the role and take over as Executive Chairman. The company has appointed John Ternus, currently Senior Vice President of Hardware Engineering, as the new CEO, effective September 1.
The reshuffle signals Apple’s intent to strengthen its position against NVIDIA in the rapidly evolving AI and chip technology space. Johny Srouji has been named Chief Hardware Officer, while Tom Mebry will lead the hardware engineering division previously headed by Ternus. Known for his contributions to key products like Mac, iPod, and AirPods, Ternus is expected to guide Apple into its next phase of innovation, with a strong focus on AI-driven growth.
