The Maoist network suffered another major setback just a day after the elimination of top leader Hidma. Following yesterday’s encounter in Maredumilli that left Hidma and five others dead, fresh gunfire erupted in the same region this morning.
In today’s operation, seven key Maoist leaders were killed. Among them was senior South Zonal Committee member and Andhra–Odisha Border incharge Jogarao alias Tech Shankar. Also killed were Central Committee member Nambala Keshav Rao’s protection team commander and Divisional Committee member Jyothi.
The encounter also claimed the lives of the Maoist communication wing chief Suresh alias Ramesh, area committee member and Jaggeragunda militia commander Lokesh alias Ganesh, deputy commander Srinu alias Vasu, along with committee members Anitha and Shammi.
Officials confirmed that all seven carried significant rewards on their heads. They also stated that the Maoists who escaped during yesterday’s Hidma encounter were among those killed today.
However, police dismissed rumours that senior Central Committee secretary Devji was killed in the operation.
