Nagarjuna Akkineni is on the brink of completing an incredible 40 years in the Indian film industry. As an actor, studio owner, producer, and family man, he is currently enjoying one of the most fulfilling phases of his career. With upcoming films like Coolie and Kubera, Nagarjuna is stepping out of his comfort zone and experimenting with a variety of roles to challenge himself as an artist. In a recent interaction with a leading English daily, he opened up about how his perspective on the industry’s “number game” has evolved over the years.
Looking back on his journey, Nagarjuna expressed deep satisfaction with the way his career has shaped up. He’s equally content with the opportunities that continue to come his way today. However, he also recalled the intense pressure he once faced to stay at the top and chase box-office numbers—a phase that was often stressful.
“That pressure has slowly disappeared now, and the numbers keep changing every month. The number game has become a mess today. So, I’m just living in the moment. I’m happy doing exactly what I want. If I can’t do that after 40 years, then what’s the point?” Nagarjuna said.
Nagarjuna remains one of the most respected senior stars of this generation, shining on both television with Bigg Boss and in mainstream cinema. He’s also credited with introducing several young and talented directors to the industry. Currently, Nagarjuna is busy working on his landmark 100th film, directed by Tamil filmmaker Karthik, which fans are eagerly looking forward .
