Telangana DGP C.V. Anand said active participation from the public and private sector is essential to make the police system more accessible and effective for citizens. The Cyberabad Security Council was established on August 23, 2006, with this objective and has since undertaken several innovative public safety initiatives through public-private partnerships. He highlighted programmes such as ‘She Shuttles’ for women’s safety and ‘Chaitanya’ aimed at supporting students and their education. Anand recalled that when he served as Cyberabad Commissioner, the council was functioning in a relatively inactive state. He said efforts were subsequently made to revive and strengthen it as an effective partner in public safety.
C.V. Anand said extensive discussions were held with representatives from the public and private sectors before launching several new initiatives. The council was strengthened to work continuously with the police for public safety and welfare, he said. Anand expressed happiness that the Cyberabad Security Council is now functioning effectively and playing an important role in expanding the police’s role in public safety. On the council completing 20 years, he congratulated its members, partner organisations and everyone who had worked with it in the past. He expressed hope that the council would continue serving public safety through more effective and innovative programmes in the coming years.
