Bollywood star Salman Khan has received major relief in a misleading advertisement case related to a pan masala brand. The National Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission (NCDRC) has stayed the ongoing proceedings against him in a lower court. The interim stay was granted while hearing an appeal challenging the orders issued by the district consumer commission in Kota, Rajasthan.
According to the case details, a complainant named Indramohan Singh alleged that a pan masala advertisement featuring Salman Khan and others was misleading. During the hearing, the district forum directed verification of signatures of all parties, including Salman Khan. However, his legal team objected, stating that the forum ordered verification without first establishing the maintainability of the complaint. A bench led by Justice A.P. Sahi and member Bharat Kumar Pandya questioned the jurisdiction and procedure followed by the district forum. Considering previous interim orders by the Rajasthan High Court and arguments that consumer courts are sometimes misused, the NCDRC stayed further proceedings against Salman Khan. The next hearing has been scheduled for June 22, and notices have been issued to the petitioner.
