Jindal Steel Sets Guinness World Record With Longest Steel Slag Road

Jindal Steel Limited has achieved a remarkable feat by securing a Guinness World Record for constructing the world’s longest steel slag road. The road, built near Raigarh in Chhattisgarh, uses processed steel slag, a by-product generated during the steel manufacturing process. The company said the project demonstrates how industrial waste can be converted into a valuable resource for infrastructure development.

In collaboration with the CSIR-Central Road Research Institute (CSIR-CRRI), Jindal Steel constructed the 1.85-kilometre road using nearly 2 lakh tonnes of processed steel slag. The company said steel slag roads are scientifically proven to offer greater durability than conventional roads while reducing construction costs by around 30–40% and lowering maintenance expenses. Jindal Steel Chairman Naveen Jindal said the initiative shows how science, technology and industry can work together to create wealth from waste.
