Jio Platforms Limited, the telecommunications and digital services arm of Reliance Industries, reportedly made a strong debut on the stock market on its listing day. The occasion turned emotional for Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani as his children, Akash, Isha and Anant, reflected on the company’s journey and thanked investors and customers for their support. Akash Ambani expressed gratitude to investors for the overwhelming response to what was described as India’s largest IPO, which reportedly achieved full subscription within 95 minutes. Recalling his early days at Jio after returning from overseas studies, Akash spoke about working alongside his father to realise the vision of a digitally empowered India. He also shared the story of Anjali, a girl from a mountainous region of Kerealam who once had to walk two kilometres uphill to download lessons on her mother’s phone. With Jio connectivity, her home eventually became her classroom, highlighting the role of digital access in expanding educational opportunities.
Isha Ambani recalled how Mukesh Ambani had spoken about Reliance Industries’ first IPO in 1977, when he was 20 years old and the company was valued at ₹10 crore after raising ₹2.8 crore. She said Jio had grown remarkably in just a decade, citing reported annual revenue of around $15.5 billion and net profit of $8 billion. Isha credited the vision of her grandfather, Dhirubhai Ambani, and her father for helping the company achieve milestones that once seemed impossible. Her remarks visibly moved Mukesh Ambani. Anant Ambani, meanwhile, recalled how digital connectivity helped education and family relationships continue during the COVID-19 pandemic, even when schools and public life were disrupted. He described Jio as a driving force behind India’s digital ambitions and said fulfilling the dreams of customers and investors remained central to the company’s mission.
