Mukesh Ambani-led Reliance Group has reportedly created a new milestone in India’s corporate history following the blockbuster stock market debut of Jio Platforms Limited. With the combined market capitalisation of its listed companies crossing ₹30.5 lakh crore, Reliance Group has moved ahead of the Tata Group to become India’s most valuable corporate group by listed market value. On October 28, Jio Platforms shares made their debut on the BSE and NSE at ₹1,358, representing a premium of more than 21% over the IPO issue price of ₹1,119. The strong listing delivered substantial gains to investors on the first day of trading and pushed Jio Platforms’ market capitalisation beyond ₹12.5 lakh crore. The listing has placed the company among India’s elite businesses with market valuations exceeding ₹10 lakh crore.
With a market capitalisation of approximately ₹12.5 lakh crore, Jio Platforms has emerged as one of the country’s most valuable listed companies, ranking behind its parent company, Reliance Industries Limited (RIL), according to the figures cited in the report. This development means that the top two positions among India’s most valuable listed companies are now held by businesses belonging to the Reliance Group. The listing has also reshaped the rankings in the telecommunications sector, with Bharti Airtel moving down to third place among the country’s most valuable telecom companies. Jio Platforms’ strong debut is being viewed as a significant development for Reliance Group and India’s stock market. However, market capitalisation and share prices can fluctuate as trading continues.
