Putin-Zelenskyy Meeting? Kremlin Calls Reports False

Talks between representatives of Russia and Ukraine are continuing with US mediation in an effort to end the ongoing war. Against this backdrop, international media reports claimed that Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy could hold direct talks on the sidelines of the G20 summit scheduled to take place in Miami, the US, in December. However, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov dismissed the reports as false, saying direct talks between Putin and Zelenskyy were currently impossible.

Peskov reiterated that if Zelenskyy wants to meet Putin directly, he would have to travel to Moscow. He also said Russia would not agree to hold such talks at any location outside the country. Meanwhile, there has been no official confirmation on whether Putin will attend the G20 summit in December. Zelenskyy recently said he was ready to hold talks with Putin if the US invited both leaders during the G20. He stressed that Moscow’s position on the war would be crucial and claimed that Ukraine is currently in a stronger position to confront Russian forces than it was last year.
