Tollywood’s Young Heroes Embrace Raw and Violent Action Stories

Tollywood is witnessing a noticeable shift in the style of action films, with young heroes increasingly opting for raw, rustic and intense stories. While commercial entertainers and romantic dramas once dominated, audiences are now showing interest in films that combine strong emotions with high-octane action and intense violence. Vijay Deverakonda, Nani, Sai Dharam Tej and Sharwanand are among the actors exploring this new space. Vijay Deverakonda’s Ranabali, directed by Rahul Sankrityan, is set against a British-period backdrop and is expected to feature him in an intense and aggressive role, with historical conflicts, brutal confrontations and large-scale action sequences.

Nani has already showcased his mass and violent side in Dasara and is now working on The Paradise with director Srikanth Odela, which is said to blend rustic action with intense emotions. Sai Dharam Tej is also entering the violent-action space with Rohith KP’s Sambarala Yeti Gattu, a rural revenge drama featuring intense action sequences. Meanwhile, Sharwanand is set to appear in director Sampath Nandi’s Bhogi, which is reportedly being designed as a gritty mass-action story. The film is expected to present Sharwanand in a more violent avatar than audiences have seen before. It remains to be seen whether these bold experiments will redefine the actors’ images and deliver strong results at the box office.
