Heart diseases are often called “silent killers,” doctors say, because clear symptoms like chest pain may appear only after the condition has progressed. However, doctors point out that early warning signs of heart problems can show up on the skin. Swelling in the feet and legs, bluish or purplish skin discoloration and persistently cold hands or feet may indicate poor blood circulation.
Doctors also warn that yellowish-orange waxy patches (xanthomas) or sudden red-yellow skin spots can signal high cholesterol or triglyceride levels, which increase the risk of heart disease. These skin changes should not be ignored. Experts advise consulting a doctor promptly and getting proper tests done to protect heart health.
