Dhurandhar, starring Ranveer Singh, has turned out to be one of the biggest box office successes of the year. The film has crossed 1,000 crore in gross collections with its Hindi version alone, which is considered a rare achievement in Indian cinema. Trade experts believe the movie may even cross 1,500 crore by the end of its full run. Unlike films such as Baahubali 2 or Pushpa 2, this massive collection has come only from one language.
The sequel, Dhurandhar 2, is scheduled for release on March 19 next year and will be released not only in Hindi but also in Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam and Kannada. Akshaye Khanna, who played the villain in the first part, received huge appreciation for his performance and was seen as one of the main reasons behind the film’s success. Naturally, the makers want an equally strong villain for the sequel.

According to the latest buzz, Tollywood star Akkineni Nagarjuna has been approached for the villain role in Dhurandhar 2. Though his recent negative role in Coolie received mixed reactions, sources say his character in this sequel will be powerful and on par with the hero. Fans believe that a strong role in a high-budget project like Dhurandhar 2 could mark a solid comeback for Nagarjuna.
