Whales are known for their long migratory journeys, but two humpback whales have set a remarkable record by traveling nearly 14,500 kilometers between Australia and Brazil. The whales, moving separately along different routes, were identified when they reached the coastlines of the two countries. Researchers confirmed their identity by analyzing unique patterns and markings on their tails with the help of specialized software.
While humpback whales are known for long-distance migration, scientists say this is the first time such an extensive journey has been recorded. Studies suggest that these whales learn migration routes from their mothers. After years of observing their breeding and movement patterns, researchers concluded that the whales had traveled across vast ocean distances, marking a significant discovery in marine science.
