Rama Ekadashi, observed during the Krishna Paksha of the Ashwayuja month, holds special significance in Hindu tradition. In 2026, the festival will be celebrated on November 5. According to Panchang details, the Ekadashi Tithi begins at 11:03 AM on November 4 and ends at 10:35 AM on November 5. Following the Udaya Tithi tradition, devotees will observe the fast on November 5. The fast can be concluded on November 6 between 6:37 AM and 8:48 AM. On this auspicious occasion, devotees worship Lord Vishnu and Goddess Lakshmi, seeking blessings for prosperity, happiness and family well-being. They offer yellow flowers, fruits, lamps, incense and Tulsi leaves to Lord Vishnu. Since Tulsi leaves should not be plucked on Ekadashi, devotees are advised to collect them a day in advance.
Devotees are encouraged to chant the mantra 'Om Namo Bhagavate Vasudevaya' and recite the Vishnu Sahasranama. Reading or listening to stories associated with Lord Vishnu is also considered auspicious. Offering food, clothes, fruits and essential items to the needy is believed to bring spiritual merit. According to traditional fasting practices, devotees should avoid rice, meat, fish, eggs, onion and garlic on this day and prefer a simple, Satvik diet. Plucking Tulsi leaves, consuming non-vegetarian food and engaging in negative activities are traditionally discouraged. Maintaining peace of mind, practising self-discipline and worshipping Lord Vishnu with devotion are considered the most important aspects of the Rama Ekadashi vrat.
