Allegations of irregularities in the affiliation of private degree colleges under Osmania University have triggered concern in academic circles. More than 50 colleges are reportedly facing scrutiny over alleged non-compliance with mandatory requirements such as ownership documents for land and prescribed corpus fund deposits. Following complaints, university authorities have initiated corrective measures.
The Directorate of Academic Audit has directed all 780 affiliated colleges under OU to submit original land documents, updated Encumbrance Certificates and corpus fund details by August 31. The university has warned that affiliations could be permanently cancelled if the required documents are not submitted within the deadline. The Civil Justice Society has sought a comprehensive inquiry into colleges allegedly operating in violation of regulations, while student groups and educationists have called for a transparent investigation.
